Lori Bowen and I have locked picture on the short film that we co-directed and co-wrote, I am Monster, a crazy psychological examination of necrophilia. We’ve had immense support from an entire team of producers, crew, and wonderful actors who wanted to see this insane story come to life. We did everything we could to nail it RIGHT.
Now, onto sound, color, VFX, and score.
This movie is AMAZING an I can’t wait to unleash it on the circuit!

GOBLIN: GIALLO LIVE

Playing Los Angeles for the first time in their 40 year history, Goblin will perform a full, live set pulled from their most iconic scores, including: Dario Argento’s giallo classics SUSPIRIA, TENEBRE, and DEEP RED, and George A. Romero’s seminal DAWN OF THE DEAD. Immediately following Goblin’s performance will be an incredibly rare 35mm screening of Argento’s 1975 masterpiece, DEEP RED.
The line up for this tour will include original members since 1975 Claudio Simonetti and Maurizio Guarini (keyboards) and Massimo Morante (guitar). The band is rounded out by drummer Titta Tani and bassist Bruno Previtali that joined in 2010.

The event will take place inside the auditorium of the Egyptian Theatre.
To celebrate Goblin’s first show in Los Angeles, Beyond Fest is producing a limited edition poster designed by seminal UK artist Graham Humphreys. A fan favorite of the band, Graham’s poster will be made available exclusively at the show.

From the opening with a child slashing someone and a bloody knife dropping to the floor, we’re plunged into an ever-deepening pool of repressed terrors. David Hemmings is a pianist sucked into an undertow of escalating homicide after he witnesses the murder of psychic Macha Meril. One of Argento’s most justly-famous gialli, where something as simple as a lizard writhing on the floor could represent a child’s wounded psyche, bound some day to erupt in spectacular fits of murder. The dark and distinctive keyboard-rich soundtrack - the first by prog rockers Goblin - was a major hit in Italy. With Daria Nicolodi.
Doors will open at 7:30 PM. Intermission between the live concert and the screening of DEEP RED. This show is all ages, but bear in mind, the film has disturbing images of murder in it.

I feel like I’m one of the very few who LOVES this flick and I love Miss Argento in it. Well, the first hour and a half, anyway. Once Anna kills…umm…Thomas Kretchmann’s character, the story loses me. I get it, but it loses me.
Criterion to Release Lynch’s Mulholland Drive
I used to hate getting notes like this in the cans when I was a projectionist…some of them were really condescending and we would inevitably get yelled at by the customers for the film being too loud. But if I had been a projectionist when Mulholland Drive came out, I would’ve taken this sheet downstairs and said, “DAVID LYNCH WANTS IT THIS WAY, YOU PLEB. DAVID LYNCH IS MY FRIEND.”
I love David Lynch.
