My new short film, Stella Buio, just got its first review from Justin at the Mangled Matters blog! He gave it a 10/10!

Thank you, Justin!

As of today, Stella Buio is finished! The next step would be to start submitting it to festivals and get the press kit materials together. Press kits are monumental work.

I won’t be posting Stella Buio in it’s entirety for a while, though. There are festivals out there that have it in their rules that they will not play a film that’s publicly available on YouTube or Vimeo. That’s why the short I made last year, JustUs, hasn’t had much play…until today, when I unlocked the film on Vimeo and made it available for all to see! Enjoy!

occupyiowa:

The YouTube corporation and CBS have now censored the original video of Anaheim cops shooting at children. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MST4RhWdlMQ

“This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by CBS.”

Spread links to the mirrors. Keep firing.
Stella Buio: THE FINAL STRETCH

Step one: render video so I can watch and make adjustments where necessary.

Today’s screencap features some of my favourite shadowwork in Stella Buio, wherein Chris Cline’s character (Philip) makes something very nasty happen to Shawn McBee’s character (Victor). You can even see it in the trailer!

Well, I was hoping to have the film done last night, but, alas, technical difficulties prevailed. You know how these things go.

I didn’t post a screencap of the day yesterday, but this is good, too. What is it, you ask? It’s the hard drive containing the colour corrected footage from Stella Buio! (Yes, I named my hard drive Slartibartfast. I have another one name…

I might even have the film done TONIGHT.

The film is in colour correction and sound editing right now so we’re very close… Like with JustUs, however, the film won’t be released on the internet for about a year from first festival submission. There are a lot of festivals out there that will not play a film if it’s already available publicly on YouTube or Vimeo. If you contributed to the “DVD” level of the campaign, you get to have a copy for your very own with our thanks!!

Today’s screencap features the wonderful Linnea Quigley as the title character, Stella Buio. These are her real eyes, by the way. She has her normal going-out-in-public eyes and keeps these in her purse only to be used on special occasions.*

(* totally not true, she actually keeps them in a cooler.**)

(** also totally not true.)

I need more sleep.

I’ve been away for a week and a half, but now I’m back! I was in L.A. for the Viscera Film Festival (click here for the official Viscera website) and I stayed a little longer and went to the San Diego Comic Con.

Now that I’m back, I’ve decided to start posting photos again, but this time, I’m posting some screencaps from the film! They’re not truly indicative of the final look, we’re still in colour correction right now, but I really wanted to share some of these images! Today’s image is of Laura D’Anieri as Greta and Melanie Robel as Julie, our film’s mother and daughter.

To check out the trailer, click here!

Bonni Reid, the woman who is creating the poster art for the film, sent me a mock-up of the poster and, seriously, tears of happiness sprang to my eyes. It looks AMAZING. I can’t share it because it’s a mock-up and not the final product, but trust me. It’s so awesome!

All that’s left to do for the short film is colour correction and sound design. I’m not the best at sound design, but I’m going to try my best and that’s all anyone can ask for, right?
