I just realized that I neglected to thank Karen Lam, Dustin Hubbard, and Austin McKinley for their amazing support during the final hours of the fundraising campaign for Stella Buio! THANK YOU!

With all of the incredibly generous contributions from IndieGoGo as well as offline donations, we managed to make a little over one third of the estimated budget for the film! While, like anyone who uses the site, I’d hoped to make the full amount, I’m so happy and so thankful that we were as successful as we ended up being.

Today is Day One of the three day shoot. Well, two and a half to be precise. I’m a fairly zen person anyway when it comes to my shoots. Things happen and you just have to figure out how to deal with them, y’know? I’m as prepared as I can be and I feel so much more relaxed thanks to having a cast read through last night. I’ve never had time to have one before. It’s like a whole new world!

I’ll try to send out behind the scenes photos throughout the next few days, but I don’t guarantee they’ll be at reasonable hours. I want to document the hell out of this shoot because, WE’RE GOING TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN!

The read through went fantastically! I’ve gathered together a great group of people and I’m really excited for the shoot tomorrow and Wednesday!

I LOVE the Viscera organization. It’s absolutely one of the best festivals I’ve ever been a part of and the people who run it are some of my favourite people evar.

I hope y’all have been paying attention to the Viscera Facebook event page or website, but if you haven’t: Tickets are now available for the Viscera Film Festival’s fabulous July 7th 2012 kick-off event and red carpet!

Admission is $11 and you get to see ALL of the films, food, free drinks (including alcohol), and you get to check out the red carpet and awards ceremonies as well as the after party at the Hotel Roosevelt!

Huge thanks to Sue Szylwin for contributing to the campaign for Stella Buio! We have our first cast readthrough on Monday (the day the campaign on IndieGoGo ends) and we start shooting on Tuesday! Once the film is in the can, I will be sending some of the BTS photos and colour-graded screencaps to Bonni Reid for poster art! I’m planning on making a few t-shirts and posters and that sort of thing and I’m very excited for this. I’ve never had a t-shirt for one of my flicks before!
