We here at the Viscera Organization hope that you all have had a wonderful holiday and are preparing to ring in the new year in style!
The Viscera Organization, as the name implies, is made up of several different systems all working together to achieve equality for women and men in genre filmmaking. You can find the Organization on Facebook and on Twitter.
Our flagship event, the Viscera Film Festival for female horror filmmakers, is heading into its fourth carpet ceremony in 2013 (the event started as a touring festival in 2007 and had its first carpet ceremony in 2010). We’re back at the American Cinematheque’s beautiful Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on July 13, 2013. We’re accepting submissions through the end of February so read the rules and send us your short films!

In September of this year, we launched the Etheria Film Festival, an event dedicated for female science fiction and fantasy filmmakers, with sold out screenings in Boston, Massachusetts, and those same films have headed out on tour. Etheria recently opened for submissions so if you meet the requirements and have a film, send it in!!

Women in Horror Month is also one of our services. WiHM is held every February to recognize the hard work of the underrepresented female genre artist by giving back to the world at large through philanthropic events, screenings, and educational discourse on women in genre art. To find out how to become involved in Women in Horror Month, head over to the website!

In the new year, we plan on launching several exciting new services such as the Full Throttle Film Festival, which will be dedicated to action films directed by women, and the Mistresses of Horror Alliance, which seeks to help women network with each other in order to create new opportunities for everyone.
