In today’s behind the scenes photo, I’m making notes as we progress into the night.
I had storyboards and a shotlist, but there are things you just can’t plan for: things in general taking longer to shoot than you’d anticipated, wanting so much coverage that you’re probably never going to use (but, trust me, you’re grateful you have so much coverage when you get into cutting the flick), or time just slipping away. And sometimes, you need to re-write your shotlist on the fly.
However, I think it’s a really good idea to do shotlists and storyboards. It helps you see the movie before you get on set. Your vision might change, but your general preparedness will get you through some long ass nights.
