Teaser image for a new music video!

The above image was created for me by designer Austin McKinley to be used in a music video for John O’Keefe, a friend of mine from high school. I’m only giving y’all a taste because I am evil (and I don’t want to give the whole thing away), but wait ‘til you see the entire image! For this video, I’ll be experimenting in computer assisted shadow puppetry. It’s something I’ve been aching to do for a long time, but haven’t found a project that would fit until now with John’s single “Big Mistake.”

JustUs will be playing Motor City Nightmares Film Festival

I received word that my short film JustUs will be playing at the Motor City Nightmares Film Festival in Novi, Michigan, which I guess is just outside of Detroit, April 27-29! They don’t have the film festival schedule up yet, they said that’ll be up this weekend, but look at the guest list for the convention! Sid Haig (who will always be Janitor Bob from Just the Ten of Us to me) and Ken Foree and Tiffany Shepis and Tony Todd and Doug Bradley and on and on… *sigh* I won’t be attending because, well, I need to save for Stella Buio, but if you go, please let me know how it went!

My brother sent me the theme song he wrote for Stella Buio and I thought I’d share a bit of it. Once the film is shot, he’ll watch it and mould the theme to what’s on screen. I asked him for something reminiscent of Fabio Frizzi’s work and he came back with something AWESOME. :D

Please consider donating to the IndieGoGo for my new short film Stella Buio!

Hey guys! I’ve made an Indie Go Go campaign for my next short, Stella Buio, and even though I’m superstitious about this sort of thing, I feel I can (and should) formally announce that I have the majority of my cast lined up: Chris Cline will be playing Philip the returned husband, Shawn McBee will be playing Victor who is one of Philip’s relatives, Melanie Robel will be playing our lead protagonist Julie (also a relative of Philip’s), and the legendary Linnea Quigley (or as I like to call her Linnea F’in’ Quigley) will be playing the title character, Stella Buio!

On the crew side (I’ma have CREW!) I’ve got the fantastic Wheat Buckley handling the lights, the amazing Bonni Reid will be doing my poster art, and my brother Shawn Bowen will be handling the Fabio Frizzi-inspired score.

JustUs will be playing at the Sarasota Film Festival!

If you’re a filmmaker who doesn’t live in New York City or Los Angeles, chances are that you know what it’s like to have the hometown film festival reject your film. You could be accepted to every festival you applied to, but when the hometown rejects it, you feel like a pariah of some sort. I’ve sent my work to the Sarasota Film Festival three times now and apparently the third time is the charm because this year, JustUs has been accepted to the Sarasota Film Festival! They’re not big on horror here, this is mainly a community for retirees, but the ones that make waves at Sundance and Toronto tend to make their way to this festival.

This is why I can’t go to the Bare Bones Film Festival which is also playing JustUs. That event is happening at exactly the same time in Oklahoma.
